Newtown Manager 'Excited' To Get Ismail

Newtown manager Chris Hughes is excited to have signed Zeli Ismail after the winger quit Hereford.

And given they are looking to qualify for a European competition, Hughes is looking forward to getting the best from Ismail.

"When he was available we had a chat on deadline day and got it done," Hughes told the Mid-Wales Journal.

"It is an exciting signing and it really was a no-brainer.

"We all know his quality, his pedigree and he is still at a young age.

"You don't play for the teams he has played for if you haven't got something about you.

"He's had an injury, so we will need to be patient but hopefully he can hit the ground running in a crucial period.

"We had been looking for a while, when he left Hereford we showed our interest and it is great to get him."

There's been quite a lot of money spent at Newtown recently.

Amidst others they've brought in Shane Sutton from Telford and Jake Walker the former Aston Villa player.

"It's fair to say we're shopping in a different place."
