Brandon Hall Was Kept Busy In The Second Half |
Despite being 2-1 up at half time, Hereford allowed Curzon Ashton back into the game at Edgar Street yesterday and afterwards manager Josh Gowling spoke to the local media.
"A tale of two halves to be honest," said Gowling.
"That's probably the best we've been in a first half all season but I spoke to the lads at half time and said they are going to come out, might make some changes, bring the big lad on, and we've got to deal with that and I don't think we dealt with that well enough.
"The problem was the first five minutes of the second half, we lost too many balls trying to mess around in the middle of the park and that gave them momentum, gives them a bit of a tails up and then all of a sudden they get on the front foot and you find it difficult to shift the momentum back.
"I thought that was the most winnable we've been from set plays in a very long time.
"I don't like games like that, I like to control games of football. I thought we controlled it well in the first half.
"I said to the lads at half time I didn't know we were going to concede after 30 seconds but the way we were in the warm up I thought we were a bit too jovial for my liking and then they go and concede a goal after thirty seconds because we switch off and they score a free header. Not happy about that.
"Then we score their secong goal when Dan's misheaded it in.
"I thought we missed Skipp and Luke's aerial presence in there, you could see the difference. Second half at times we got picked off when I wanted us to be a bit more solid, keep our shape and counter on them a little bit, but we still got in good areas but we were a bit wastful."
Loanee Levi Andoh was man of the match with two assists.
" Especially first half, he set two goals up, he's powerful, he gets forward well, he's got a eye for a pass as well, he was excellent today. Coming in at half time he was absolutely buzzing to get assists as he has been moved around a bit, left back, centre half, right back. He was brilliant today."
Brandon Hall was kept very busy in the second half.
"That's what you need, start of the season that goes in the back of the net and you lose the game 3-2. It's good that when he's called upon he's there. I thought we could have helped him more today with the set plays because I though they ringed him. For me our centre halves or midfielders have got to push them out to give him a bit of space for him to deal with things.
"So Brandon has been brilliant, his kicking was good today and he was there when we needed him."
