Ron Parrott, Hereford FC's historian, has been looking at the career of Patrick Fini who recently joined the Bulls.
Patrick Fini
Born Tiel, Holland 31st May 1996
Born of parents from Togo, Patrick joined the youth set-up with NEC Nijmegen in the Dutch First Division at the tender age of 10. He worked his way up through the ranks until he became a regular in their Reserve side but unfortunately, he was unable to take that big step up into the first team. After a brief spell with FC Oss in 2014, Patrick joined Achilles 29 in the Dutch Fourth Division in the summer of 2017. After just one season with them, Patrick spent 2018/19 with 1. FC Bocholt back in the Dutch First Division.. In July 2019, Patrick dropped back down into the Third Division and spent two seasons with GVV Unitas.
Patrick
then decided to try his luck in the UK and arrived at Edgar Street for a
trial in the summer of 2021.He had already represented Togo at U-20
level and his dream was to represent the Togolese side at full
international level. A centre-back who could also play equally well on
either side, early signs were good and he also looked capable when going
forward. Manager Josh Gowling liked the look of him and decided to
retain him, he was a bit ragged around the edges but had a lot of
potential for the future.
