A trip to the City Ground in this League Cup encounter. Forest were 3rd in the Premier League and flying with the goals of Stan Collymore and Bryan Roy. Hereford were struggling near the bottom of what is now League Two.
Steve White gave Hereford a shock lead. Collymore scored two quick second half goals to win the game. It was back at Edgar Street in a couple of weeks for the 2nd leg.
