Former Hereford United player Samuel Oji has died. He was just 35 years old.
Oji started his youth career at Arsenal before moving to Birmingham but only made one appearance for the Blues.
Loan spells with Doncaster, Bristol Rovers and Leyton Orient followed, until a permanent move to Orient in 2007. He was then released by them in May 2008.
Oji joined Hereford United in August 2008 mainly to take the place of Karl Broadhurst who was out with a dislocated shoulder.
However Oji only managed five starts before he suffered a knee injury.
He was released by Graham Turner in February 2009.
Recently he has been with Highgate United.
"All it is with a very heavy heart that I am deeply saddened to inform you, that our beloved Captain, Leader and Legend Samuel Oji has sadly passed away.
"The thoughts of all at Highgate United FC are with Sam’s wife, children and family at this very sad time. RIP Oji."
