With the country at fever pitch ahead of England's Euro 2020 Final against Italy, BN looks back to when a Hereford referee was an official at Euro 1960.
Jim was a linesman during the match between Soviet Union and Yugoslavia, which the former won 2-1. He also took charge of the 1962 FA Cup Final between Tottenham and Burnley before refereeing during the 1966 World Cup.
Jim, who is pictured alongside referees from the Mid Wales League during a visit of Kington Town Football Club, died in Hereford in April 2008.
Thank you to Andy Compton for supplying us with the photo and story. Andy will be exhibiting a small selection of images from his archive in The Marches Gallery in Kington during h-art (Herefordshire Art Week) week which runs from September 4 to 12.
