A Hot Day On A Plastic Pitch

Hereford FC travelled to Redditch yesterday afternoon to play their second pre season friendly.

Given it was the hottest day of the year to date and they were playing on a plastic pitch it probably wasn't the best pre-season friendlly ever played but it did give both teams a chance to test their fitness.

Hereford manager Josh Gowling started the first half with three trialists, one of which was in goal.

The home team's Ryan Woollacott had an early chance but his header went over the target while, at the other end, Miles Storey had an effort deflected wide.

Storey, who led the line in place of Joey Butlin - out with a slight groin strain, also put another header wide late in the first half. And then he had a long range shot tipped over.

From the resultant corner Hereford took the lead. Luke Haines was on hand to score via the goalpost after Toby Raison headed the ball towards him from close to the back post.

Gowling kept the trialists along with Raison for the second half. There was also a return for Tom Owen-Evans.

However Redditch took control of the game and Hereford's keeper did well to keep out efforts from Sweeny, Hudson and Tilt. They did have the ball in the back of the net once but it was ruled offside.

Not surprisingly the equaliser eventually came. With five minutes left Hudson scored.

Hereford first half: Trialist, Hodgkiss, Raison, Haines, Trialist, Lloyd, Vincent, Whittingham, Trialist (Kouyhar), McLean, Storey.

Second half: Trialist, Raison, Jones (Trialist), Trialist, Trialist, Owen-Evans, Klukowski, Butlin, Johnson (Trialist), Williams (Trialist), Jenkins (Trialist).
