The FSF has commented about the launch of the Government's Fan Led Review.
On Monday the Government announced the launch of its fan-led review
and it is vital that all efforts are poured into that, with supporters
front and centre, in order to rebalance the power structure of the
domestic game.
There have been numerous reviews in the past with
recommendations that football ignored or diluted. That cannot happen
again. Reports suggested that the Prime Minister was considering a ‘legislative bomb’ to stop the involvement of domestic sides in the Super League.
And last night the broad 'Terms of Reference'
for the fan-led review were published by the Government, and the scope
was welcomed by the FSA. Our chair Malcolm Clarke said: "The owners of
the big six have shown how powerful they are – their plans were so awful
that within 24 hours a fan-led review that will look at the very power
structures of football was announced. It’s the best own goal we’ve ever
seen.
"We welcome the release of the Terms of Reference and look
forward to supporters being at the absolute heart of this review. The
status quo cannot continue and we will demand change."
