Petheram Accepts FA Decision Not To Allow Mini-League

Gloucester co-chairman Alex Petheram has accepted the FA decision not to allow a mini-league of National North and South clubs who wanted to continue the season.

He said 'he will accept it and move on'.

However, as reported by GloucesterLive, he remains unhappy with aspects of the season.

"It's very hard for the FA to use words like integrity when you've got teams in the league above not playing football.

"Actively and publicly placing players on furlough and signing other players or playing anything that they could that resembles a football team to fulfil fixtures or worse still, not play at all.

"There’s nothing integral about that, so for that reason to be used against us I find an insult really."

One of the plus points recently has been talking to chairman of other like-minded clubs.

"What we now have is 18 exceptionally strong allies across the north and the south. I've never actually dealt with so many of them (other chairmen) for such an intense period of time and I mean that wholeheartedly.

"We were having two hour long zoom meetings every other day, so when you're dealing with that number of people, friendships are formed.

"And those sorts of friendships wouldn't have been formed out of anything other than adversity - in what very much is the British spirit when adversity becomes friendship, and that's exactly what's happened between us 18 clubs."
