Maidstone Chairman And The 'National League Funding Scandal'

Maidstone chairman Oliver Ash is continuing his campaign about the 'National League Funding Scandal'.

The Funding refers to the allocation of money from the National Lottery to National League clubs for the months of October, November and December.

Some clubs feel that the distribution of the funds was unfair.

Here's three of Ash's most recent tweets.

'NATIONAL LEAGUE funding distribution SCANDAL. Using estimates of Independent Review Panel’s revised club funding formula, we find that 7 of the 8 Board members paid their own clubs £530,000 more than they should have. @FA so far refuse to sanction this possible abuse of power.

The reason I bang on about this is because it is simply unacceptable. We cannot operate professional businesses under incompetent and untrustworthy governance. In an altogether more serious context it has been said that “for evil to reign it only takes good men to stay silent

So....members of NL Board chose a public funding distribution system in conflict with government guidelines, gave their own clubs £530k more than they should have and deprived fellow clubs in financial distress of these much-needed funds. Thanks, well done, here’s an OBE.'

Meanwhile Hereford FC director Andrew Graham has tweeted a response to Ash's comment about seven National League board members 'paying their own clubs £530K more than they should have'.

'Now this is an interesting take on the NL allocation of funds! It would be true to say that there is much secrecy & so little knowledge over what has happened, how it has happened, why the NL fail to accept an independent panel’s advice and how public money has been distributed.
