Why Hereford Are Selling Wellington Tickets

Hereford FC have agreed to sell tickets for next Tuesday's friendly at Wellington.

Here's why:

By way of explanation, we (Wellington) faced several problems due to the extremely short notice we were given to allow spectators.  Firstly, we have no facility to accept card payments at the ground so each ticket would need cash handling...not good.

Also, recent Hereford v Welly games have attracted gates of between 350 and 450 which presents a problem when the COVID limit is 150.  Our concern was that we would have to turn people away once the legal capacity had been reached and that was something we considered to be unacceptable.  Our solution was to make it ticket only although that, again presented its own problems...printing etc..

In conjunction with HFC it was therefore decided that the bulk of the tickets should be purchased through the HFC ticketing system.  This avoids the use of cash and provides an e-ticket to purchasers mobile phone which can be shown at the gate to gain entry.

Although the attendance has been limited the cost of staging the game remains the same (stewarding, pitch preparation, match officials and floodlighting) therefore we have had to slightly increase the prices from those charged last season.

Wellington will provide a refreshment canteen offering hot and cold drinks together with confectionery.  Due  to the short notice, we are unable to offer bar facilities this time.

We are sure the game will be entertaining on a good playing surface and we fully expect the HFC squad to include a number of trialists which should provide plenty on interest.
