Peter Gulacsi Walking Out Behind Steve Guinan For Hereford In March 2009 |
Severals articles have appeared in the last few days mentioning Peter Gulacsi's time with Hereford United. The Hungarian keeper now plays for RB Leipzig.
This from the BBC:
Two weeks before RB Leipzig's birth, goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi was
ending a loan spell rock bottom of League One as he was relegated with
Hereford.
It's unlikely he would have envisaged facing a £400m strikeforce in a Champions League semi-final as he fished goals out of his net from the likes of Bas Savage, Lloyd Owusu, Billy Paynter and Paul Hayes at the wrong end of the third tier of English football.
And from the Daily Mail:
It's May 2009. Peter Gulacsi's last game
for bankrupt Hereford United against MK Dons has ended in relegation
from League Two (One -ed). Meanwhile in mainland Europe, Red Bull Gmbh are
planning to form a German football club.
Fast forward 11 years and the Hungarian has just played a key role in helping that club, RB Leipzig, reach a Champions League semi-final.
To
add to that, his old club now go by the name of Hereford FC and occupy
the National League North after a winding up-order in 2014. It's fair to
say three parties have gone on different paths.
BT Sport:
2009: Péter Gulácsi plays 18 games on loan from Liverpool at Hereford Town (United-ed) who are relegated after finishing 24th in League One. The same year RB Leipzig is founded.
