Speaking to Radio Hereford FC from Edgar Street yesterday afternoon, Hereford manager Josh Gowling confirmed that a training session was taking place as he spoke.
"First day back, good to be back into the swing of things, back at the ground, got the squad in," said Gowling.
"So training has started."
What about the new training base?
"I'm going to go down on Monday to have a chat. The situation we're in at the moment is obviously Covid and the restrictions and the guidelines. So that's the biggest thing, we can't shower or use the indoor changing rooms.
"It's great facility and an olympic gym which we can't use at the moment.
"It's just off the motorway so it's good for everyone to get to.
"Getting the training base more north should help get better players in at cheaper money.
"It's a really perfect location as we've got lads coming in from Birmingham and places more north than Hereford.
"Obviously with the budget being cut we've got to pay players less so with that in mind there will be less travelling so it's worked out quite well."
What about more players coming in?
"We're going to bring in a group of players we have identified to have a look at. Me and Steve (Burr) have got targets that we want to bring in and then around that there will be players who have left clubs.
"Because of the salary cap in the Football League there will be a lot of players dropping out of League clubs and so that filters to the National Premier League and there will be players that drop out from there because financially the clubs can't keep hold of them so there will be a lot of players available.
"From our point of view we can actually try before we buy. We can get players in to look at and then decide if they fit, they have the right attitude and they blend with the team.
"There will be a few more pre-season friendlies so we will have quite a few this pre-season.
"Because the lads have had such a long lay-off with us training twich a week they will need more game time so we are going to try and have games every Saturday and Tuesday to really get them up to speed because the season is going to start with a lot of games.
"That will give us the availability to play lads maybe 45 minutes and then build up to 60 minutes and on to 90 minutes to help prevent injuries.
"With the lads playing 45 minutes it gives us the opportunity to possibly bring in 10 trialists and look at them during games."
