Jacob Jagger Cane Disappoined To Miss A Chance Near The End Of The Game |
After yesterday's 2-2 draw with Darlington, Jacob Jagger Cane spoke to the local media.
"We're very disappointed to be honest," said the Hereford midfielder.
"Obviously going 2-1 up late on, we should be holding onto the lead but with how it has been recently with the results and change of manager I think the performance was really positive. Obviously disappointed to conceed at the end.
"But you could see at the end of the game all the fans, we've played really well today and we've really excited them. It's a shame not to have won. We're all gutted in there.
"I had a chance at the end, the keeper has made a good save, but we are building week on week and we are trying to play the right way.
"Gowls and Bury they instilled a lot of confidence. Me coming back they've got me involved, Toe as well, everyone seems a lot more positive now.
"The last three games, Curzon last minute equaliser, then Southport. I think we were way off it against Southport but to come back in the last few minutes and score those two goals was a massive boost for us.
"Then today it was a game of two halves. In the first half we were playing uphill, against the wind so it was always going to be a lot tougher but second half showed at home with the wind and downhill towards the Meadow End we've been really positive recently."
Asked about the difference between the previous management and the current set-up Jagger Cane felt it was about trust.
"I think the main thing is trusting each other and trusting your own ability. That's what they've tried to instill in us because we are all good footballers out there and, like you saw today, we're played some really nice patterns of play.
"That bit of play at the end where I've had that little chance in the last minute, we've popped it around nice and then had a good effort on goal, and we've done that a few times. It's belief really in playing the right way.
"With the three in midfield we've got, me, Tommy and Toe, we all like to get on the ball and we like to play. That is the instruction to get it through midfield."
The keeper got his hand to Cane's diving header late in the game.
"I was gutted, I was planning a celebration. I was going to get my top off and swing it around my head. I haven't scored this season. It would have been nice in the last minute at the Meadow End but it wasn't to be."
It's Altrincham next Saturday.
"Massive. Darlington they try and pass the ball, I think Altricham are quite similar. Looking at the league table they will be a better outfit so we will have to be right up for that, massively on our game.
"I think the way it's gone recently we can really bring it to them and we want to win."
Earlier this season Altrincham beat the Bulls 5-1.
"I wasn't there was I!
"We go into every game wanting to win."
