Bulls Out Of HFA Cup

Hereford FC are out of the HFA County Challenge Cup after losing to Lads Club tonight.

It looked like the Bulls were on course for a comfortable win after racing into a 2-0 lead early in the game.

But Lads Club came storming back to level the tie by half time and went 3-2 up through Tom Bendall's second goal of the game early in the second half.

And despite Brad Ash having a shot cleared off the line late in the game, and a penalty claim for handball turned down, Lads Club held on for the win.

Hereford interim manager Josh Gowling picked a mix of youth and senior players. Of the 11 who started, only Keiron Thomas, Rhys Davies, Ben Pollock, Brad Ash and Kyle Finn are regular first team squad the players.

Finn had already struck in the crossbar before Hereford took the lead in the fifth minute; Brad Ash shooting low past Lads Club keeper, Steven Bell.

And it was 2-0 just two minutes later when Finn drove home.

But Lads Club responded well and started to create chances. Adam Hockey - who was on Hereford's books under Pete Beadle - having a shot blocked.

And it was Hocked who set up Lads Club's first goal in the 22nd minute, with Bendall netting. The home side then equalised five minutes before the break when Ollie Price fired home after his initial effort was saved.

Lads Club then took the lead in the 49th minute. Hockey was again the provider, this time crossing for Bendall to head home.

Ash went close to making it 3-3, but his effort was blocked by Liam Jones, while at the other end, Jamie Cuthbertson headed wide.

Jones was again his side's saviour in the 77th minute when he denied Ash another goal. And Ash again saw a shot cleared off the line; this time Cuthbertson was the hero. Then in the fourth minute of injury time, a Hereford free kick appeared to hit the arm of a Lads Club player, but no penalty was awarded.

Hereford: Hooper, Thomas, Davies. Coley, Pollock, Davies-Austin, Hopkins, Whitlock, Ash, Bishop, Finn.
Subs: Guinane, Hilton, Pemberon, Morgan, Corten.
