Troubles Continue At Macclesfield

Division Two Macclesfield Town have informed the EFL that they can not play Crewe tomorrow.

The EFL report that they 'had met members of playing staff at Macclesfield Town alongside representatives of the PFA earlier on Friday and during that constructive meeting it was made clear that the health and wellbeing of both the players and staff had been adversely affected by the ongoing late payment of wages and, as a result, would be unable to focus on on-the-pitch matters.'

Macclesfield owner Amar Alkadhi was told by players in a statement earlier this week that they would strike unless players and staff were paid.

'This is down to the fact that salaries haven’t been paid for last month, we haven’t trained as a squad since last Thursday due to the fact we have no training ground but most importantly, the game can’t go ahead for the emotional and mental well-being state of the players, which is currently at rock bottom.'

Macclesfield were in the High Court last Wednesday over a unpaid tax bill. During the hearing former manager Sol Campbell told the court he was owed £182,000 in wages. He was manager for just eight months.

Barrister Sam Hodge on behalf of Macclesfield said that there had been problems moving money from a director's account in Spain.

The court case was adjourned until December 18th.

Macclesfield's Peter Vincenti has been on loan at Hereford since September 20th.
