Reece Styche Scored A Penalty For The Bulls |
Considering the Bulls came from
behind to lead, one could argue that it’s frustrating that the side could not
hold on for all three points. But York have been at or near the top all
season, so it has got to be classed as a very good point.
York took the lead in the 8th
minute when Alex Kempster's deflected shot beat Brandon Hall in the Bulls goal.
But it was Hereford who looked the more threatening in the first half, with Reece Styche going close on more than one occasion.
And the Bulls were rewarded with
an equaliser 10 minutes before the break, even if it did come in fortuitous circumstances.
York goalkeeper Pete Jameson's
clearance could only find Greenslade after the ball somehow stayed in following
a Hereford shot.
Nicholson's 'Shot' Hit The Corner Flag And Went To Danny Greenslade |
First, Jared Hodgkiss had to clear
a David Ferguson effort before Hall denied Andy Bond. And then in the 58th
minute, Jordan Burrow was denied with a point-blank header.
Seven minutes later, Hereford
had a chance to go 2-1 up. But Jameson saved with his feet to deny Taylor
Allen.
However, Hereford did go ahead
in the 71st minute. Substitute Alex Bray was upended
in the penalty area
and Reece Styche calmly slotted home the spot-kick.

Ferguson – who was very lively
throughout the game on the left-hand side – crossed low and Burrow was on hand
to slot the ball home.
Overall, it was probably the best game so far this season in terms of entertainment and the fact that both sides went for it. Of course, three points were there for the taking, but a draw is still very good against a decent side. On to Curzon Ashton away this Saturday.
