The National North Weekend Review is written by Sam Elliot.

York City are showing that they mean business in the Vanarama National League North this season.
The Minstermen are looking good under Steve Watson - and they made it four wins from five on Saturday afternoon.
York beat Leamington 2-0 as Alex Kempster and Jordan Burrow hit the spot.
Watson said: “I can't emphasise how important a great atmosphere at home is - it could be the extra points that we need and it was fantastic today."

Guiseley are second but despite going ahead had to make do with a 1-1 draw at Boston United.

What a start it has been for newcomers King’s Lynn Town.
They won 3-1 at AFC Telford - their third victory already after winning promotion.

Hereford may not have a manager but they do have another three points.
The Bulls are pushing and won 1-0 at Blyth Spartans, the winning goal coming from Mike Symons in the north east.

Bradford PA also changed manager but they haven’t had such a good reaction.
Avenue went down 4-0 at Alfreton and already have a -17 goal difference. Can they turn things around?

Unbeaten Chester are now fifth after thrashing Gloucester City as Bradley Johnson got amongst the goals.

Darlington won for a second time, a 2-0 success at home to Southport lifted Alun Armstrong. Adam Campbell and Tyrone O’Neill got a goal apiece.

Gateshead grabbed their first win, a 2-1 victory against Kettering raised spirits. Toby Lees and Joshua Kayode were on target for the Heed.

Ben Atkinson got the winner as Spennymoor’s slow start continued at Farsley Celtic.

Ash Chambers scored once again - Kidderminster won 1-0 at Curzon Ashton.

Meanwhile Shane Byrne got the winner for Brackley as they sneaked past Altrincham.
