Bulls Keep Wolves In Check

Hereford FC and a Wolves under 23's side played at Edgar Street last night in Ryan Green's Testimonial.

Although the result was a goal-less draw, the Hereford management would probably have been the happier of the two given that keeper Brandon Hall hardly had a save to make all evening.

Ryan Green captained the Bulls for the first half and the side included one new trialist, a left winger.

Playing towards the Meadow End on a very warm summers evening, striker Reece Styche had a chance of opening the scoring from just outside the area.

A minute later he appeared to have been brought down just inside the area but the referee wasn't interested.

The new trialist cut in from the left but lost his footing before he could shoot.

Martin Riley was off target with a header

As the half went on Hereford were having the better of the play and won several corners but couldn't take advantage even with Green in the box.

Another good ball from the trialist but no-one could get on the end of it.

Just before half-time an emotional Green came off to a standing ovation. The last appearance in a Hereford shirt for the Welshman who first played for the club sixteen years ago in August 2003.

The second half started with Hereford creating several chances. Jordan Liburd collected the ball with his back to goal, turned and shot.

The trialist continued to impress on the left with some nifty footwork.

With sixty minutes gone, Styche had a chance to put Hereford ahead but his shot hit the cross-bar.

Assistant head coach Will Morford brought on several players including Mike Symons and Tom Owen-Evans to try and break the stalemate. Symo did get past the keeper and tried to turn the ball into the net but it was cleared off the line.

Wolves had the better of the possession during last ten minutes but couldn't find the back of the net despite creating several chances.

A useful workout for Hereford but the lack of goals is a concern.
