Gateshead have been suspended from the National League for multiple breaches of the league's membership rules - meaning they are likely to drop two divisions.
The club was found guilty of failing to obtain security of tenure over its ground, defaulting on football creditors and breaching League rules concerning financial reporting and permitted loans.
Gateshead have subsequently had nine points deducted from its playing record for the 2018/19 season and fined £3,500.
Their suspension from next season's competition means they cannot compete in National League North, meaning they are likely to start the 2019/20 campaign in the Northern Premier League.
It is not clear how the league will be reorganised, although Aldershot and Ashton United - who finished in the last relegation place in the National League and National League North respectively - could be handed reprieves.
Another option could be to reprieve Truro and for Oxford City to go back to National League South. Gateshead have the right to appeal the decision.
