Five players left Billericay last week but this was part of a plan to go full time according to their chairman Dan Groves.
Billericay, who travel to Edgar Street next Saturday for a FA Trophy tie, still have 23 players on their books and two players are expected to join them next week.
Groves admitted that the five had left very quickly.
"There's nothing to worry about," said Groves in an interview with Billericay radio.
"You've got to breakdown what's happened, it was done very quickly.
"We had a squad of nearly 30 players and some were not getting game time. Every manager has his favourite players.
"We've released four players and sold one. The Jake Robinson one was a bit of a shock.
"Harry (Former manager, now at Maidstone) approached us and made us an offer we couldn't refuse.
"He is 33, he might be looking at retiring at the end of the season.
"We've got two new additions we'll announce next week.
"We're bringing in younger players who want to go full-time rather than players at the backend of their careers."
Billericay won their game at Eastbourne 2-0 yesterday and are now third in the National South League.
