Billericay Owner Glenn Tamplin |
Several players have quit Billericay FC this week. Amongst them are Adam Cunnington, Scott Doe and Ricky Modeste.
The latest to leave is striker Jake Robinson who has joined Maidstone where former Billericay manager Harry Wheeler is in charge.
It's not immediately known why these players have moved on but it may have something to do with the club's plans to go full-time.
Supporters may find out more as chairman Dan Groves is set to be interviewed on Billericay Radio at half-time this afternoon.
Billericay is 'owned' by Glenn Tamplin. The businessman bought the club in December 2016.
The club has already had three managers this season. Firstly Harry Wheeler, then Steve Watt and currently Dean Brennan.
Wheeler was said to have been told he was sacked in a text message and Watt only lasted a few hours. Reportedly Tamplin said 'I've had to sack him (Watt) bcoz he was slagging us off last year.'
Tamplin put the club up for sale in September after, according to the BBC, suffering 'personal abuse' which reportedly included a Woking supporter suggesting he had taken cocaine. However a week or so later Tamplin changed his mind.
Currently Billericay are 5th in the National South League.
Next Saturday they travel to Edgar Street to play Hereford in the FA Trophy.
