This from the club:
Hereford legend Ryan Green has made the tough decision to take a break from playing football due to ongoing fitness issues, but the popular Bulls player will not be leaving Edgar Street after being offered a new role within the club.
Green will become a key member of the new scouting network at Edgar Street with the important task of identifying new talent for The Bulls.
Speaking exclusively to the official Hereford FC YouTube Channel Green admitted it was a hard decision to take a break from playing. "For the time being I think it's for the best, training twice a week on 3G at my age is not the best to be honest. When we train, the next day I'm struggling to walk, so that's not ideal.
"It's been a long decision, a tough one, but I think it's time to call it a day for now. It's been tough, it's a sad day for myself, but hopefully it's the right decision.
Green has jumped straight into the task of trying to identify potential new players for The Bulls having already watched a number of games in his new role. "Tim and the board have helped me a lot, we spoke about things I could do, and scouting was one of them.
"Management isn't for me, as I've said before, but scouting is something that I'm interested in, I want to stay involved in football and scouting gives me the chance to do that and try and get some new players for the future of the club."
Green has also been rewarded for his efforts over the years for both Hereford United and Hereford FC with a testimonial.
"The testimonial will give me a good chance to say goodbye to the fans, and vice-versa, I've got three or four teams that I'd like to play, I can't say anymore yet, but it should be exciting times."
Hereford Chairman Ken Kinnersley added "Ryan has been a fantastic servant not only to Hereford FC, but also to Hereford United and we are all sad to hear that he has decided to take a break from playing football.
"We all have many fond memories of Ryan in a Hereford shirt, and whilst the decision that Ryan has made to take a break from football is not a happy one, we completely understand his reasons, and are delighted that he has agreed to stay on board, and become a member of our new scouting network.
"To have someone of Ryan's experience and knowledge on the search for the next generation of player to bring into the club is fantastic."
