Fans For Diversity Help Older Worcester Supporters

This from the FSF:

The Fans for Diversity campaign is helping older fans around Worcester who’ve lost touch with live football reconnect with their club.

Free transport will be provided by the Fans for Diversity campaign throughout the 2018/19 season to fans over the age of 50 – this is part of a series of events in conjunction with Worcester City Supporters’ Trust to make supporting the Faithful more accessible.

Worcester City chairman Steve Goode said: “We’re looking at helping to reduce loneliness and isolation as well as tackling mental health issues for older people, whether that’s previous City supporters who haven’t been able to get to a game or new fans, attending for the first time.”

Age UK’s Worcester branch will be supporting the partnership and will be looking for feedback on the scheme, which is expected to be in place for their fixture against Loughborough University on Saturday 10th November.

“It is something we have not done before,” Steve added. “We would like to know how many people would like to take it up and come along.

“One of the things I keep bringing up is how we have lost touch with a lot of our older fans who can no longer get to games. This will be an opportunity for them to come along and see their club again.”
