Pete Beadle is happy with what he calls a 'steady start' to the club's first National League North campaign, saying his side had the upper-hand in today's 1-1 draw against full-time York City.
"Without being disrespectful to the players that played, we haven't been at full-strength yet since the start of the season and we've had a really good start," Beadle to BBC H&W's reporter Keith Hall.
"We're up there. We had two defeats against the two teams that are top of the table, we've played another one today and taken a point. We've had a steady start and we're happy with it.
"We know there's more to come and we're going to get better as we go along and we know when everyone's fit there's going to be some competition there.

"We more than matched what many people still do have down as their favourites to win this division.
"They're full time and there's been lots of rumours about the budget that they spend. Today they've had one shot on target, one shot wide and that was it. We've had the upper hand in lots of areas of the pitch and we've had some very good chances.
"We finished the strongest so that says a lot about how well we've done today. There's lots of people having their moans and groans about being patient, or not pressing. Sometimes you've got to be patient, these a full-time footballs that train every day, play every day.
"They're well organised, well drilled but I thought in general play we caused them a few more problems that they caused us. And we probably in the end we didn't get we deserved, we probably deserved to win the game in the end."
Beadle also praised the fitness of his squad, saying that they grabbed the game by the scruff of its neck with 20 minutes to go.
"We work as hard as we can through pre-season, but we don't get to see them every day of the week so you've got to trust them when they're away from the ground," Beadle added.
"One thing we've always done is tried to pride ourselves in our fitness, the way the lads work and loos after themselves.

"That showed [York's fitness] in games like today, it's no surprise last week that they scored all three of their goals after the 75th minute, so maybe teams do get tired and that's where they come into their form.
"But today after 70/75 minutes we grabbed them by the scruff of the neck and we were the team on top as in when we were in possession.
"Yes they had possession in their own half and around the edge of the box, but they never caused us any problems, they never had a shot on target second half. They never had an effort on goal second half apart from one that went wide.
"We've made some big strides today because everyone's turned up today and performed well in difficult conditions but it was extra warm out there, playing against a team that are down as favourites and who are full-time.
"So to finish the game the stronger out the two I'm very pleased."
With Hereford trailing 1-0 at the break, a number of supporters were calling for Lance Smith and Jamie Bird to come on off the bench - which they did. They replaced Harry White and Jordan Lam.
"Jamie did because he came on and set the goal up, but it's easy to say it when you see 15 minutes of him on a Saturday. Every game he's come on, Jamie has done ever so well, but there's a part of him that still needs to mature and grow up," said Beadle.

"He's chomping at the bit to play, and when we feel he's ready he'll play.
"If he started for 90 minutes there's no saying he wouldn't have the impact he does when he comes for 15, 20 or the half hour today he got. So he's chomping at the bit and that's how we want them, Lance the same.
"If Harry [White] had scored in the first half nobody would've been mentioning Lance, so it's the same thing as it was last year. It's that reality of where we are.
Steve [Jenkins, assistant manager] just summed it up perfectly - where were we three years ago, four seasons ago, and where were they? In four seasons we are now playing them on the same pitch as their equals, yes they're full-time, but to achieve what we have done today the players should take a lot of credit.
The team that started off the game wore them down and worked hard, and those that came on fully-deserved to be coming onto the pitch and they made a little bit of a difference at times. But that's what subs are meant to do."
