Peter Beadle Giving The Officials Some Advice. |
If the opportunity arose Hereford FC manager Peter Beadle would like to go full-time but he accepts the time is not yet right.
Today's opponents York City were full time, although certainly as regards fitness there was little difference between the two teams this afternoon.
"We would like to go full-time but we're not in a position to do that right now," said Beadle.
"I talked about it in the summer about where we were as a football club and the requirement for us to be anywhere near that was that we need a minimum of 3,000 season ticket holders because we don't have the resources that some other clubs have.
"We have a fantastic fan base and, obviously, they spend a lot of money coming to the games and travelling.
"But we only use the revenue we bring into the club.
"There are lots of different figures banded about but to be competitive you probably need a little bit more than what we afford right now to do that.
"We could go full-time now and be similar to Leamington, lots of players hungry and young but very naive at the same time.
"But that's not the way we feel is the best way forward for us as a football club so, at the moment, we choose to do it this way because we can be competitive this way.
"We can compete because of the quality of the player we have here at the moment being part time.
"We've been to Fleetwood and got a result and matched them in a replay. We've been to Eastleigh and got a result. We've had Dagenham here and got a result with what basically wasn't a first team eleven on the day.
"So we know that when everyone is at it, we are more than competitive.
"What we can't do is put the club in a position where it went through like last time.
"The board have been great about it. They've tried to give us as much as they can which we are working with and it seems to be doing okay at the moment.
"In an ideal world yes we would like to be full time but we can't do that to the detriment of the football club as a whole."
