Historical Comebacks

Marlon Jackson After Scoring Hereford's Third Goal Last Night At Truro
Hereford United club historian Ron Parrott has been delving back through the archives of the Bulls following last night’s 4-3 triumph at Torquay against Truro City and he can confirm that it is the fourth time in the club’s history that we have overturned a 3-0 deficit into a 4-3 victory.

The first occasion was back on 8th October 1960 when United trailed 0-3 at Wisbech Town just after half-time but fought back to win 4-3 with a hat-trick from Roly Morris after 52, 54 and 89 minutes and an 87th minute strike from Ray Daniel.

The second historic event took place at Northampton Town in the Football League Division 2 on 16th October 2010 when United were 0-3 down at half-time but achieved an unforgettable 4-3 victory with goals from Stuart Fleetwood 58 & 70 minutes, James McQuilkin after 72 and Mathieu Manset after 78 minutes.

The third time it happened was as recently as 22nd August 2015 in an unforgettable game at Rocester in the Midland Premier League. Again, Hereford found themselves 0-3 down at the interval but who could ever forget the magnificent second-half comeback when they won the day with goals from Pablo Haysham after 61 minutes, John Mills after 74, Nathan Hughes after 85 and a nerve-wracking last-minute penalty from Rob Purdie!

To balance matters, we have also only twice managed the situation in reverse in the Club's history. In 1946/47 we were leading 3-0 at home to Cheltenham Town in the 4th Qualifying Round of the FA Cup but managed to lose it 4-3 and in 1956/57 we were 3-0 up at half-time at Chelmsford City and yes, you've guessed it, we somehow contrived to lose it 4-3.
