News Round Up

Speculation continues over the future of Gosport Borough's manager Alex Pike, who missed last night's 2-1 loss at Bishop's Stortford for personal reasons. Since Pike was reappointed in December, Boro have only picked up two points from 14 games and remain firmly rooted to the bottom of the Southern Premier table. According to the Portsmouth News, Chairman Iain McInness said the board have discussed his future 'at depth', and the pair are due to meet tomorrow [Thursday].

Tiverton Town remain hopeful that they can secure a top five finish, according to manager Martyn Roberts. Tivvy currently occupy 8th place, but after their 7-1 win against Dunstable on Saturday, Rogers told Devon Live they have a slight chance but have a lot of work to do.

The arrangements for the BigFreeBet.com Challenge Cup have been announced, with the usual two-legged final being abandoned due a lack of available dates. Didcot Town will travel to Hitchin Town on Monday 19th March in the League Cup final, with kick off at 7.45pm. Should the score be level after 90 minutes, it will go straight to penalties.

Former Bull Jarrod Bowen has featured in Sky Sports' Best Championship XI for the season. In the 'power rankings', the striker is ninth in the Top 50 English Championship players, with another ex-Hereford United player Tom Barkhuizen ten places behind.

Worcester City manager John Snape has allowed Redditch United to speak with Tyler Weir after waiving the standard seven day approach. Snape told the Worcester News he doesn't want the 27-year old to leave, but understands that he may need a new challenge. Weir made seven appearances for Hereford during a three year spell at Edgar Street.
