It Wasn’t a Vintage Performance But The Lads Have Been Excellent said Beadle

Hereford manager Pete Beadle felt that Biggleswade Town came with a game-plan to frustrate, but the Bulls deserved to win.

Connor Hall was dismissed for the visitors in the second half after it appeared he raised an elbow to Jimmy Oates.

Speaking to BBC H&W's reporter Keith Hall, Beadle said: "They came with a game-plan to frustrate, and when they went down to ten it became even more imperative for them to keep a clean sheet.

"They don't concede many anyway, and if you look at their results over recent weeks and over the season, they don't concede a huge amount. They'll say they deserved to hold on for a draw, but the other side of it we deserved to win the game with the amount of pressure, chances and everything else.

"We knew it was going to be difficult, and we talk about being ruthless and in the end it took a messy goal to win it."

Beadle went onto say that it wasn't a vintage performance and Biggleswade made it difficult.

"The lads have been brilliant today, but it wasn't a vintage performance. They [Biggleswade] made it difficult for us, especially when you have so many bodies behind the ball.

"We worked harder second half to go a bit wider, but it was a bit slow getting out and then the first cross kept hitting the first man. But we also had some good balls into the box and some good half-chances.

"The lads kept on and we've shown we've got it. We showed it at Slough, they know they've got it in them and that's what pleases me even more.

"With the way the game went they could've started to feel sorry for themselves but they didn't. They kept on and got what they deserved."

Hereford were without John Mills today as he's struggling with a knee injury. He's set to go for a precautionary scan on Monday, but Beadle hopes a rest will be all it takes.

"He's going for a scan on Monday, precautionary of course. He's felt his knee now for a couple of weeks, a bit of a twinge. It's got to a point now where it's becoming uncomfortable for him.

"We'll get him scanned on Monday evening, hopefully we'll get the report back pretty quick and we'll know what we're dealing with. It might just be case of he needs a rest.

"He's played a lot of games, since Christmas he's upped the anti and he's put in an awful lot of work for us this year. There aren't many games he's missed.

"Apart from the first game where he was on the bench, I think he's started almost every game. He's put in a lot of work this year, maybe he just needs a rest - maybe. Hopefully that'll be the case, but most important is we get the scan done and see how he is then."
