Edgar Street Won't Be Sold Says Kinnersley

Hereford have received written confirmation that despite the county council selling a number of freehold sites, there are 'absolutely no plans' for Edgar Street to be disposed of.

Herefordshire Council is selling off land at an open auction in London to raise money. Local businesses at Rotherwas Industrial Estate told the Hereford Times they fear international companies could buy the land and out-bid local companies before changing lease terms.

But Hereford FC, who are the tenants of the council-owned Edgar Street stadium, say the same won't happen to them and improvements are in the pipeline.

Bulls chairman Ken Kinnersley told the club's official website: "In light of the concerns raised in some quarters, Hereford FC has sought and received assurances from Herefordshire Council that whilst it is the case that a small number of freeholds at Rotherwas have been disposed of, and there are plans to sell more, it has been confirmed in writing that there are absolutely no plans for the Council to dispose of the freehold of the Edgar Street Football Ground.

"In fact, improvements to the Edgar Street stadium are a priority once work commences with Herefordshire Council’s new development partner."
