For 90 Minutes We Were The Better Side Said Underwood

Slough joint manager Jon Underwood felt that his side were the better side for 90 minutes but still failed to win the game against Hereford this afternoon.

"We are absolutely devastated to be honest," said Underwood in his post match interview.

"We wanted to win the game as we still had realistic ambitions of winning the League.

"We needed to beat Hereford today to put us back in with a shout of doing that.

"For ninety minutes we were the better said, I would be surprised if they disagreed with that.

"Against what everyone says is the best team in the League, bookies' favourities for the League, they are a very good side but I thought for ninety minutes we were better than them.

"It counts for just a point in the end because our discipline, in terms of not clearing the ball away in injury time led to a goal for them and it happened at Chesham and Banbury. We had been the better team on the day but we came away with only a point.

"We've probably thrown away eight points from winning positions in the last month and teams that win Leagues don't do that.

"At the minute we are not capable of seeing games out.

"I think the League title is now gone, we would have to go on a brilliant run and hope others like Hereford slip up.

"They were never going to give up because they've come back from situations like this before, they've won games late.

"They've got that belief that comes from two and a half years, 51 games on the road without losing.

"We should have ended that today."
