Southern Prem Weekend Review

In general results went Hereford's way in the Southern Premier League yesterday.

Here's a review written by Steve Whitney.

King`s Lynn Town still lead the table by four points, but suffered a 5-2 hammering at a Farnborough side who were beaten at home by bottom-markers Gosport Borough last Wednesday!
And all that came after the Linnets took a first-minute lead through Ryan Hawkins!
But it was Nic Ciardini`s day as he helped himself to four goals – equalising in the 6th minute and then giving Boro a 35th minute lead that veteran Jamie Cureton added to right on the stroke of half-time.
Lynn then lost Ryan Fryatt to a straight red card for conceding a penalty immediately after the break which Ciardini converted for his hat-trick
And he made it a nap hand for Spencer Day`s side in the 73rd minute, with the Linnets netting a second consolation 3 minutes from time.
That, and Weymouth`s game at Dunstable being off, allowed Kettering Town to return to second spot – and with two games in hand on King`s Lynn – after beating mid-table Stratford Town 2-0 at Latimer Park.
A crowd of 508 saw Matt Stevens give the Poppies a great start with a goal in the 4th minute.
However, it wasn`t until the 88th minute that they were able to breath easily when Rene Howe doubled their advantage.
Fourth-placed Tiverton Town suffered a 4-0 hammering at the Carlsberg Stadium by inconsistent Biggleswade Town.
The impressive Liam Brooks was the Waders` hat-trick hero, making it 2-0 at half-time with goals in the 13th and 17th minutes and then converting a 65th minute penalty.
Gavin Hoyte completed the scoring in the 67th minute.

Hereford FC are fifth and now just two points behind Tivvy with no less than FIVE games in hand on them and most above them.
A crowd of 2,794 saw the Bulls win comfortably 4-1 at Edgar Street against youthful Basingstoke Town, who took a 4th minute lead through Dan Bayliss.
Jack Deaman equalised in the 17th minute and Keyon Reffell put the Bulls ahead on 31 minutes, with top scorer John Mills adding a third just before half-time.
Mills made it 4-1 with his 16th league goal of the season to date in the 73rd minute.

Slough Town also have plenty of games in hand after their cup exploits, but looked to be suffering a hangover from their defeat to Rochdale when losing 4-2 at Arbour Park in front of 551 to a Bishop`s Stortford side who are now seventeenth.
It was a day when little went right for the Rebels, who conceded an early 6th minute Sean Fraser own goal.
James Dobson equalised 5 minutes before the break, only for Jason Williams to restore the Blues lead 2 minutes after it.
Tom Clifford made it 3-1 just past the hour-mark after Slough`s Nathan Smart had been sent-off for bringing down a Stortford striker on the break.
Clifford inadevertedly scored at the other end 13 minutes from time, but Williams added a fourth for the visitors in the first minute of time added on at the end of the game.
Frome Town were delayed en-route to Kings Langley and the kick-off was delayed 15 minutes.
But that seemed to affect the home side rather than the visitors, who ran out 7-2 winners!
After Mitchell Weiss had given Kings a 12th minute lead, it was 3-1 by the time he scored his second on 55 minutes, thanks to Ollie Knight, Jon Davies and Chas Hemmings.
Joe Raynes made it 4-1 after 71 minutes and Darren Jefferies immediately made it a nap hand, with Marcus Mapstone on 82 minutes and a penalty in stoppage time from Jake Jackson accounting for Frome`s other goals.
And Kings Langley`s next game? They play Premier League Watford in the county cup on Tuesday!
St Neots Town were another side to enjoy a goal fest on Saturday as they beat troubled Merthyr Town 5-2 at home.
Lewis Irwin and Luke Knight both bagged braces for the Saints, with Dion Sembie-Ferris adding the other – Kerry Morgan and Matt Harris replying.
Hitchin Town are seventh after they won 4-1 at the Avenue Stadium against lowly Dorchester Town.
Josh Bickerstaff gave the Canaries a great start with a goal inside the opening 4 minutes.
Lucas Kirkpatrick from the spot after 16 minutes and then Elliot Bailey 20 minuets later gave them a 3-0 interval lead.
Jon McNamara added a fourth 10 minutes after the break, with Mo Baghdadi netting an 82nd minute consolation for the Magpies.
Banbury United had second half goals from Conor McDonagh, Leam Howards and Jefferson Louis to thank for a convincing 3-0 win over Royston Town at the Spencer Stadium.
