News Round Up

Following their recent takeover by former Portsmouth chairman Iain McInnes, Gosport Borough have reduced admission prices for their New Years Day game against Weymouth. Under new manager Alex Pike, Boro enjoyed a brief spell off the foot of the table, but returned after results on Boxing Day didn't go their way.

Former Barrow boss Micky Moore ruled out a return to Redditch United as their manager, telling the Non-League Paper he is waiting for 'the right project'. Tim Harris was appointed the Reds' new manager after quitting Gloucester City last month.

Banbury United's poor home form continued on Tuesday as Mike Ford's side lost 2-1 to Dunstable, with the struggling side coming from behind to claim all three points. He told the Banbury Guardian injured players had more chance of featuring in their next game at Stratford because those that played against Dunstable 'didn't do enough'.

Wealdstone, who Hereford face in the FA Trophy second round, have signed Marcus Johnson-Schuster from Southern Premier side Basingstoke Town. The 23-year old right back returned for his second spell with Basingstoke in the summer of 2016 after spending the previous year with Swindon Supermarine.

After trouble during Tuesday's game, Weymouth and Dorchester Town have issued a joint statement condemning the actions of the 'small minority' who misbehaved. The Dorset Echo reports that 'flares and crackers' were thrown onto the pitch, including 'missiles' towards Dorchester's goalkeeper. The clubs are working together to identity the offenders and their names will be passed onto the police.
