Despite making six changes to the starting eleven against Fleetwood, Hereford manager Peter Beadle was very pleased with today's 3-2 over Dagenham in the FA Trophy
"I thought the players were excellent from first minute to last," Beadle told the Hereford media.
"Started with a great tempo, and deserved our two goal lead.
"Got caught for their first goal and then again a bit like Fleetwood when we were totally dominating the game they broke away and scored on us which was disappointing.
"But I thought we got the result we deserved in the end."
Billy Murphy opened the scoring for Hereford.
"A great strike. He's capable of that we know. Nice to see it hit the target. And his all round game was good on the day as well. He played very well to be fair."
Beadle was asked about the changes to the team.
"It's the strength of the squad and after a huge effort on Thursday, not just physically but emotionally as well and mentally on the players, we needed to change it around a little bit.
"I have faith in the players here which is why they played today. You look at all those players who came in today, they haven't had much game time recently but all of them to a man put their bodies on the line and dominated in long periods against a team who if they win their game in hand could go second in the Conference National.
"The biggest respect they paid us was playing their full strength team without any chances so it goes to show what a big performance it was especially from those boys who haven't been playing recently."
How far could Hereford go in Trophy?
"How long is a piece of string? We're through to the next round and we could have an awful draw away from home or a really tough game at home so you just never know on the day.
"We're really pleased with the performance the players have put in today. It gives me a little bit of a dilemma for Tuesday but is fine, I like that, it's great. But we need to rest up now and get ready for probably an even tougher game on Tuesday."
"I thought he was outstanding. Along side Eastleigh it was his best performance of the season.
"I just questioned all of them why do we go through these slow starts, it's definately a mentality thing. Sometimes maybe we think it's too easy, you can never think that. Then obviously you play a team like Eastleigh, Telford, Dagenham, Fleetwood and everybody knows they can't switch off and that's how we need to approach every game.
"But we were outstanding today and think where they are. They've got some outstanding quality forwards in their side, but Symons was by far the most effective forward on the day in both teams. It shows what he's capable of and it's up to him now to maintain that."
Next is back to the league at Kettering on Tuesday.
"It's back to the League programme now for a few weeks. We can forget about the Cups and now it's imperative that we maintain that level of performance and that level of mentality and character between games.
"Certainly by the time we get to January the lads will have felt it because we've got a huge amount of games between now and the end of January."
