Hereford Showed Their 'Never Say Die' Attitude Said Beadle

Hereford manager Pete Beadle spoke to the press after this afternoon's 3-1 win at Chesham.

He spoke to BBC H&W's Keith Hall about the 'difficult circumstances' with Tyrone Duffus, Calvin Dinsley and Mike Symons all having to be substituted after they picked up knocks.

But overall, he said Hereford were 'comfortable' and had plenty of chances.

Hall first asked Beadle about his side's character.

"A tough game. Difficult circumstances with the two boys [Calvin Dinsley and Tyrone Duffus] going down early in the first half and having to make two changes is always difficult.

"But throughout the game we look fairly comfortable and had chances. Horse [Martin Horsell, Hereford goalkeeeper] wasn't really troubled too much with any in particular, especially in the first half.

"Obviously second half going up the slope it was going to be a bit more difficult, but again he didn't really have much to save.  The four in front of him did ever so well to protect him and cover him. A few crosses he dealt with and a few scrambles in front of the goal.

"In the actual game we were fairly comfortable."

Hereford dealt well with the early changes forced on them through injury.

"Keyon [Reffell] we haven't seen him in his best position yet, which says a lot about him and how he played today. I thought he was unbelievable in the fact that he could go from an attacking mindset to a sit in front of the back four mindset and didn't look out of place there at all.

"It goes to show the character of the players, and what they've achieved and what they're achieving at the moment.

"It was always going to be difficult with the amount of games piling up as they are, we tried to change it and shuffle it."

The two first half injuries to Duffus and Dinsley?

"Tyrone's was a recurrence of his previous injury. Disappointed for him as well because he's just come back, and Cardiff wanted him to play for them on Monday which is why he hasn't been involved. They wanted to check on him and make sure he was okay, and he played 65 minutes.

"Maybe it's the intensity of the game, maybe that's the difference - maybe it's not as intense as this level of football?

"Calvin rolled his ankle within the first minute by the sounds of it. He can't get a run of games going because he gets in the team, he gets fit and then he picks up another injury.

"So we need to look at it. He needs to doing something different to stop picking up injuries otherwise he's always in and out and we want him to get a run of games under his belt.

"Disappointed for both of them, but chuffed to bits with those that played, came on and when we had to rejig it - they showed their 'never say die' attitude."
