I have the unfortunate responsibility of providing news of the death of Hereford fan Brian Watkins. He had been in ill health for a year, and passed away yesterday afternoon.
Brian first started watching Hereford in the mid 1970's, and won the "Supporter of the year award" in 1990. He was presented with a trophy by Keith Benjamin which featured in the matchday programme. Brian kept scrapbooks of newspaper cuttings of Hereford matches going back to the early 1980's and was a regular drinker in the local pubs in the city.
Brian was devastated when Hereford United were wound up on the 19th December 2014, and at first took no interest in the phoenix team, but after time he decided to make the return to supporting the Bulls. Brian planned on making a comeback at the Alvechurch FA Cup game on the 20th August 2016, unfortunately ill health then took over and he never made it back to Edgar Street, he did though keep up to date with the Bulls progress via Radio Hereford FC and BBC Hereford and Worcester. I spoke to Brian in April 2015 and I include the interview below.
