Westfields 1-2 Hereford

Hereford made the short trip to Allpay Park for a county cup tie last night. Hereford manager Peter Beadle made a host of changes to give some players some game time. New signings Jamie Bird and Adam Page both started.

It was the home side who started brightest and within a few minutes Aidan Thomas beat the Hereford defence before unleashing a shot that deflected over the crossbar. It was again Westfields who continued to threaten in the early stages. Hereford's first chance of the half came just after 10 minutes and fell to Rob Purdie but he hit the ball wide.

Hereford started to grow into the game and a few minutes later a Purdie corner was met by Jamie Molyneux but he was unable to direct his header on target.

Both sides continued to press as the half progressed. Westfields felt that had a penalty shout when Thomas went down in the box but the referee waved it away. Fields then hit the cross bar from a Sysum header then both Greaves and Miller had shots saved.

For Hereford again it was Molyneux who threatened but his shot was easily saved by the Fields keeper. Pablo Haysham had a chance as he beat the on rushing keeper only to see his shot cleared off the line.

Half time: Westifleds 0-0 Hereford

The second half started much the same as the first with both side pushing to open the scoring and It fell to Hereford. Just under 10 minutes since the restart it was Jamie Bird who opened the scoring on his debut. Bird delivered a corner which swung in at the near post beating the Fields keeper.

Hereford then doubled the lead a few minutes later as Lance Smith slotted the ball home.

Hereford started to take control and came close to extending the lead on the hour mark but Mike Symons' effort went wide.

Westfields first chance of the second half fell to Craig Jones but he could only hit his shot wide. As the half progressed again both sides had chances with Haysham testing Blackburn in the Fields goal and former Hereford player Morriera blazing the ball over.

Westfields did manage to grab a goal back with less than 15 minutes remaining as Polan scored within a few minutes of coming on for Fields.

Hereford's final chance came with around 10 minutes remaining. Reffell broke away and got the ball to Haysham. He was able to get a shot away only for Blackburn to save and ball fell to Molyneux. He was able to convert the chance and his shot went wide.

Late on Phil Glover was sent off for the fields but it was Hereford who won the tie and go into the next round of the HFA Cup.
