Hereford Are An Unknown Quantity Says Hornchurch Manager

Hornchurch manager Jim McFarlane has said that Hereford are an 'unknown quantity' but will go to Edgar Street for the FA Cup tie on September 30th with 'absolutely no fear'.

It's 190 miles from Romford to Hereford but there is £7,000 at stake.

“It’s a tough draw and that’s before the long distance we have to travel to play,” McFarlane told the Romford Recorder.

“We will be going there with absolutely no fear as we’re high on confidence right now.”

McFarlane says he knows little about Hereford.

“The unfortunate thing is the only game they have when we’re not playing is in HFA Cup which is like an Essex County Cup game.

“It will have to be done on videos and talking to a couple managers I know in the league.”

However he has thought about the financial reward for his club.

“No one ever believes a non-league side would win the FA Cup, but every round we make it through is more money to help the club.

“Hereford gets gates of 2,500 so we should get a good return from that even before the result.”

Hornchurch could be missing leading striker George Purcell for the game. He was red carded recently.
