It's Not About The Result, It's Pre-Season Said Beadle

After last night's friendly at Wulfrunians, Hereford manager Peter Beadle spoke to the press.

"It's not about the result we know that, it's pre-season," said Beadle.

"We're disappointed with the goals, the way we conceeded the goals but it's what pre-season is for.

"I think at times we looked a little bit rusty and at others times we looked slick and good.

"It's our first game but it was their third game.

"It happens and it doesn't matter where you are you blow the cobwebs out. It was perfect for us.

"The pitch was good, the opposition was good. It was just what we needed."

The starting eleven played for around 60 minutes before Beadle made changes.

"The team that finished will be the team that starts at Lads Club (this evening).

"We've got the two games and we wanted to put strong sides out for both. Both sides are strong sides.

"But it's purely about minutes now. Hopefully as the games go by cohesion returns, rustiness goes and we become slicker.

"If you analyse the game we should have been out of sight by half-time but a few mistakes, a little bit of indecision attacking wise.

"They defended great, we didn't do particularily well for their first goal.

"Again if you look at the stats they've had one shot on goal in the first half that went in and two in the second half that both went in.

"We've had upteen shots, crosses, headers and they've made some great tackles, great defending.

"That's what pre-season is all about."

Beadle said that his players had been back for ten days.

"They've worked hard and now it's time to go to the games and get back all the little bits that they need to add to the game.

"In spells in the first half I thought we looked excellent and even when all the young lads came on second half we still, at times, created some nice movements and passing and we created some half chances so for me it's a win win in the fact that everyone had got minutes under their belt, we've come away with no knocks and they'll get some more time tomorrow."

Beadle said that Lance Smith was missing as he is away and that several other players will miss a couple of games.

"After he returns I think another couple go away. Some of them are teachers or married to teachers so once schools finish they'll be one or two who'll miss a game or two."

Beadle confirmed there were no trialists due to play at present.

"You look at the group we've got at the moment, I think it's really strong. You look at the senior subs that came on and you add them to the ones that started the game, it's a strong group.

"I don't think we are looking to add anyone just yet."

Beadle was asked if he had any thoughts on a captain for the season.

"No".
