Edgar Street - No Better Place To Play Said Beadle

Peter Beadle
In his post match interview Hereford manager Peter Beadle gave his reaction to the record gate of 4406, which included 340 supporting Evesham, at Edgar Street this afternoon.

"4406 on the 2nd of January, absolutely phoenominal," said Beadle.

"We would have loved to give them at the Meadow End something to sing about, a goal down that end may be, but it wasn't quite to be today.

"But they were our 12th man.

"It would be nice to keep a few more of them as we're averaging 2600. We've had 4406 today so please keep coming and supporting the team.

"Most of the time we do play quite decent stuff, quite attractive stuff and it would be nice if we could keep a few more of them coming.

"We've hopefully started the New Year well and it's given them a decent New Year's present and hopefully they'll keep coming and backing us and supporting us."

It was a sunny, crisp afternoon and the ground looked excellent given the time of year.

"I think the fact that it was full as well makes it look even better. All the seats being taken and the atmosphere was great.

"In a lot of ways it's our downfall because teams come here and raise their game.

"I'm not saying Evesham raised their game, they were excellent second half.

"But there is no better place to play at the moment.

"It's fantastic, the atmosphere is great. They are fully behind the team.

"And I think the supporters know that with me we don't have players here with the wrong type of character.

"They all want to be here, they all want to play and they all wear the shirt well most of the time.

"They love being here and love performimg in front of crowds we've had. And they love all the fans.

"It's just a great place to be at the moment."
