Stourbridge FC have released a statement in which they reveal that the FA is looking into an incident involving a flare at their recent FA Cup replay against Northampton.
It is with great disappointment that, once
again, Stourbridge FC has been reported to the Football Association by
the Match Referee following an incident that occurred in the Northampton
Town Emirates FA Cup fixture on Tuesday 13th December 2016.
Following Jack’s goal, a Red Flare was thrown from the Shed End onto the playing surface in ‘celebration’.
Bringing any pyrotechnic device into a football stadium in the UK is a criminal offence; this is clearly stated in our Ground Regulations document. Recent actions taken by UEFA for identical incidents have seen grounds closed and teams forced to play fixtures behind closed doors.
Sadly, we have seen similar incidents of this nature occur before. Following each of these, we were warned about our future conduct by the FA, but fortunately escaped any further action at the time.
Despite previous warnings to supporters, the actions of one individual could have implications for the whole of the Football Club, and how the FA will decide on this occasion we don’t know.
We can assure you that if any other supporter lets a flare off at any of our games going forward they will banned indefinitely.
We can also assure you that if we find out who the individual was that let the flare off on Tuesday 13th December 2016 they will also be treated in the same manner.
It’s hard enough running the Club without having to deal with this stupidity, so please just come along, have a great day and don’t ruin it for everyone else.
