It's Three Points On The Board Said Beadle

Hereford manager Peter Beadle spoke to the local media after this evening's 2-1 win over Larkhall. He was disappointed his players didn't score a third goal to kill the game off but was pleased with the result and another three points on the board.

"We dominated the game without actually getting out of second gear first half, we never seemed to get ourselves going but second half we raised the tempo a little bit, got the first goal, got the second one and then it was really important for us to keep going and to get the third because we've shown it against Didcot and again tonight and gave them a goal.

"With a completely adjusted back four we kept them out of the game, I don't think they had a corner,  I don't think they've had a shot other than a couple of long distance ones but one shot on target and it's gone in.

"So we needed that third one to kill the game off and we were certainly dominant enough to have done that but didn't quite do it.

"But it's third points on the board and we keep going."

There wasn't much tempo in the first half.

"It's difficult, I don't know if it's our twelfth man, the expectation they want us to entertain which we want to do and that's the style of football we want to play. We've got wide men on the pitch, lots of forwards on the pitch and we want to entertain.

"But sometimes we need their help. I thought first half it was really flat not only us as a team but the crowd as well. It was almost like they were waiting for something to happen and whereas like last year it was all new and exciting and they were singing the whole game.

"It would have been just nice for them, the twelfth man to get us going again. Because sometimes we need them, we need them more than ever when we are a little bit flat.

"When we did raise the tempo we're a very good side and we'll cause anyone problems. But maintaining it and doing it from the start like we did last tuesday, maybe the week without a game on Saturday probably didn't help because we've had to wait a whole week for a game  but second half we got it right. Makeshift back four, it would be interesting to see the goal again because they ended up with two players in the middle of the box.

"But we saw it through and we're getting better at that now and like I said it was a well deserved three points."

Pablo Haysham scored the first goal but it was set up by Mike Symons.

"Sometimes Mike can be guilty of taking too many touches but he got it right for this one and rolled it back and a great finish from Pablo.

"Larkhall played some good stuff, they've got some good players there. I saw them a week ago when they beat North Leigh 3-1 and they were fairly comfortable second half so I knew today was going to be a difficult game.

"I think playing teams like that can be a little bit unpredictable because sometimes they can be a bit off the cuff or off the wall. They changed their shape a little bit from when I saw them last week So it was always going to be a tough game.

"They've beaten Mangotsfield, they've beaten North Leigh, so we knew it was going to be a tough game and it proved to be exactly that."
