The First Goal Got Us Going Said Beadle

Hereford FC Peter Beadle gave his reaction to his sides 4-0 victory over Bishops Cleeve to the local media.

"We were not quite as sharp as we would like to be but again to take into consideration we played 48 hours ago after a four hour trip to get there and back and the lads have done well in the heat. So it was always going to be tough.

"As always we find it difficult here because teams come here love the surroundings and up their game.

"But I thought we had chances even when we were not at the races as in we were not where we wanted to be.

"Luckily we got the goal and that seemed to get us going second half.

"Halftime we talked about making sure we don't switch off and get a good start again, have a good ten minutes then it would be up to us because I didn't think fitness-wise they were going to stay with us and that proved to be the case."

Rob Purdie slotted in at right back this afternoon in the absence of Jimmy Oates.

"Jimmy had a dead leg on Saturday and we weren't sure how he would react to it yesterday but it was still really stiff. We don't need to take chances at the moment so Rob is more than capable of playing there as he has done many times and did a good job today.

"Second half as the game went on he got more involved further up the pitch and he put in a steady performance.

"We talked about it (stretching the opposition) at half time and make sure the wide men stayed wide and make the pitch as we can and make it difficult for them to close us down.

"If we move the ball quick enough it's difficult for them to close us down and gaps will start to appear and that's exactly how it was.

"I thought we showed our conditioning was great today in the heat. Those who played Saturday and played again today done a really good job and like I said we were bright and sharp.

"We had chances all afternoon and it was a case of once we got one and then the second one went in it was a case of how much quality the lads had to try and make sure they were composed enough to win again.

"We've had two homes games now where we've scored ten goals in the League and we haven't conceeded one yet which is great. That's really good for us, even more pleasing is that we are still creating chances. I thought Bridgewater should have been ten and today six or seven.

"A good performance, we never really looked in trouble apart from one chance they had when they hit the top of the bar and obviously a lack of concentration from Chris at the end and so a chance at the end.

"The result was never in doubt and the clean sheet is a morale booster."
