Substitutes Made A Massive Difference Admitted Beadle

Mike Symons Came On At Half Time And Later Put Hereford In The Lead
After this afternoon's FA Cup 4-2 win over Alvechurch, Hereford FC manager Peter Beadle spoke to the local media.

"I think that what we did do today showed what type of characters we've got here in the team but we not unlucky, it was our own doing, to be 2-0 down so early in the game.

"They showed character second half and come out and I thought throughly deserved to win the game.

"I don't think it was a case of them being more disciplined than us. You look at the game as a whole.

"First half they had a free kick in the first minute and a breakaway goal.

"Outside of that Horsell didn't have a save to make first half, and probably didn't have too many second half.

"So it's not a case of being organised or anything like that, we just gave away two really poor goals, on top of that we weren't good enough on the ball ourselves.

"No excuses, the wind was really strong and I'm sure they will say exactly the same thing the wind was really strong but that's not an excuse and I was really disappointed first half with the lack of character."

Beadle brought on Mike Symons at half time and soon afterwards Jamie Cuss.

Jamie Cull Looks Towards The Len Weston After He Scored Hereford 's Second Goal
"They made a massive difference. The first goal came from Mike, the second goal from Jamie so they were massive, came at the right time.

"At one point there we had four centre forwards on the pitch with Pablo and Jamie in both wide areas. But we had to do it because we needed to get a foothold in the game.

"Mike came on at half time because we needed to keep that ball upfront, this is why when certain sections of our supporters bang on about Johnnie Mills - this wasn't John's game today with the wind especially first half.

"He needs to have that partner alongside him as in Symo. Don't get me wrong they did extremely well last Tuesday night without Mike. But in games like this, this is where Mike comes into his own, this is where Mike makes the big difference and that makes him a huge player for us.

"We talked about it last time when John came in against Bridgewater. We are always trying to find the right balance. But we've got some very good players here and as I said to them at the end of the game we've got some fantastic players, we've shown that again with the subs we've brought on today with the likes of Jamie Cuss and Mike Symons and everyone else on the bench and Tristam wasn't fit. We've got quality players here.

"So you either play with all the attributes God has given you plus the character and desire I expect or you don't and that's what we talked about at half time just about showing some character and they second half they did it. Too many were hiding first half.

"In a game like that in these conditions they dodn't suit John. But second half I thought he worked much harder and he got his rewards and you don't score goals just by luck. Sometimes you earn it with your hard work and workrate and sometime you've got a great team around you who supply you with goals but I thought second half his workrate was much, much better but he needs, as I said, a partner as a bit more of a target."
