Shortwood United 0 – Hereford 3

Players Surround Joe Tumelty Who Scored Hereford's Third Goal
For this evening’s game at Shortwood United, Hereford manager Pete Beadle made only one change to the side that put six past Bridgwater on Saturday, with Chris Barker replacing Mike Symons, who is believed to be away. Pablo Haysham started upfront with John Mills, as Rob Purdie pushed forward to play on the left of midfield.

The first clear-cut chances of the game fell to Tristan Plummer and Pablo Haysham. Firstly, Plummer’s athletic overhead kick with 14 minutes on the clock harmlessly cleared the crossbar, before a weak right-footed effort from Haysham was easily claimed by Shortwood’s keeper Rhys Lovett.

In the 18th minute Hereford took the lead through John Mills. Pablo Haysham opened up Shortwood’s defence with a fantastic run into the box from the right wing, before playing the ball into the path of John Mills. Mills easily side-footed the ball into the back of the net for his 5th goal of the season.

12 minutes later the hosts could’ve pulled themselves back level with one of two chances; Hereford stopper Martin Horsell was on hand to deny Will Morford’s strike, before Liam Meredith’s header went just wide of the upright.

Hereford were unlucky not to have a two-goal lead going into the break, when with moments left on the clock Haysham drilled an effort from outside the area agonisingly wide after being setup by Aaron Birch.

Similar to the first, the second half lacked chances for the first 10 minutes, until Pablo Haysham’s lofted effort in the 54th minute was too high to trouble Lovett.

However less than a minute later, Haysham successfully doubled Hereford’s lead. Tristan Plummer did well to beat his man and get to the touchline, before pulling the ball back for the well-positioned Haysham to score Hereford’s 250th goal in a little over 12 months.

Who Scores From A Few Yards Out

In the 68th minute, Plummer played the ball through to John Mills in the area after a run down the flank, only for the marksman to shoot straight at the keeper.

7 minutes later, Plummer once again fed a ball through to Mills, but after he found captain Rob Purdie, his right-footed shot whistled narrowly wide of the upright.

As the game entered the final 10 minutes, some late challenges from Shortwood resulted in the referee booking Andy Lewis and Will Morford for fouls on Pablo Haysham and Rob Purdie respectively.

Substitute Joe Tumelty made an instant impact on the game after replacing Tristan Plummer as he scored a third and final goal to put the game out of reach of the hosts. Pablo Haysham played a through-ball to Tumelty as he burst through the Shortwood defence, and calmly beat Lovett with a well-placed shot.
