Hereford FC's First FA Cup Tie Tomorrow

Another first for Hereford FC takes place tomorrow afternoon, an FA Cup game.

Admittedly it's only in the preliminary round but for the new club it's another milestone.

Last season Hereford couldn't take part in the Cup and in the season before Hereford United, then owned by Tommy Agombar and Andy Lonsdale, were knocked out by Ellistown & Ibstock United in the first qualifying round.

Indeed there hasn't been a FA Cup tie at Edgar Street since December 11th 2012 when in a replay the Bulls were defeated by old rivals Cheltenham Town 2-1 after extra time.

Of note given his recent form at Hull, Sam Clucas scored Hereford's goal and the gate was 5026.

Tomorrow the visitors are Alvechurch managed by Ian Long. Last season they were runners up to Hereford in the Midland League.

However several players left the Church recently and Long may struggle to do as well this year.

Hereford should have all of their players available for the game including Chris Parry whose clearance from the FAW came through yesterday.

Given the 3-0 victory at Shortwood on Tuesday manager Peter Beadle will have to decide whether to include Mike Symons who was unavailable for that game.

Assistant manager Steve Jenkins is looking forward to the game.

"It's great opportunity for us as a club to try and get as far as we can and try and get to that first round."

Tickets for the game are on sale from 10am this morning at Edgar Street. They are also available online.

Other than for Executive Members, the game is all pay.

Should there be a replay it will take place on Tuesday. Speculation that Alvechurch has already printed tickets for any replay has not been confirmed.

Meanwhile the Junior Bulls will provide the Guard of Honour for the game.
