Good Exercise Said Jenkins

After this evening's friendly at Undy, Hereford FC assistant manager Steve Jenkins spoke to BN.

"It was difficult for the boys especially first half it was probably still in the mid-twenties.

"Good exercise again, minutes under the belt, pitch was a bit difficult but I thought we adapted quite well to it. Good workout."

Trialist Joe Phillips came on at the start of the second half.

"He did alright, he's been away for the last week so that wasn't easy for him being away on holiday. He did well went he came on, acquitted himself well.

"I thought one or two others did as well in terms of giving us that little bit of brightness second half.

"Decent performance all round and possibly could have been by a greater margin."

Created chances not finished?

"We're saving them!"

Next Saturday it's off to Manchester.

"You look at our pre-season and I think the first three games were just to get our timing and get a feel of the ball again.

"The last three games are the ones we are targetting on being a lot more competitive and where we have got to be. Switched on and got to be right."

Will you start your favoured eleven on Saturday?

"I don't know yet, we'll talk about that.

"Again there are one or two out injured, one or two going away on holiday next week so it will still be a little bit scratchy that way.

"Whatever team we put out on Saturday has got to be competitive."

Any more trialists before Saturday?

"We're always speaking to people. At the minute I would say no but there are still another three or four days before then so thing can change."

Finally why did we play at Undy?

"You'll have to ask Beads that, I don't know because I wasn't at the club when the fixture was arranged.

"But I've been here a number of times and it's a difficult place to come.

"Undy placed Newport last season in pre-season and they played them at Dragon Park and that was 2-2.

"They are a decent little team and they got promoted last year and they've got good players and they've Welsh League division one now so they are a test for any body here.

"I thought it was a good ninety minutes for us."
