Cinderford Turn Down Promotion

In a series of tweets from Cinderford Town this evening, they have announced that they have requested to remain in the Southern League Division 1 South and West despite securing promotion in the 2015/16 season. It is this league that Hereford have been promoted into.

"The club can confirm that we have today written to the league to request that we remain in the South and South West division in 2016/17.

"Whilst we have ambitions to play at a higher level, the sustainability of the club moving forward has to come first."

The news comes days after their chairman Ashley Saunders resigned from his role.

"There will be an AGM on June 5th where a new chairman will be elected along with a restructure of the club committee ahead of the new season."

The request first has to be granted by the league, before any 'reshuffling' can take place.

However the move is unlikely to affect Hereford.

Edit 8:10pm: Manager John Brough has also left the club with immediate effect.
