We Didn't Perform Well Enough Said Edwards

In the absence of manager Peter Beadle, captain Joel Edwards spoke to the press after tonight's defeat by Highgate.

"Disappointing tonight, we didn't perform well enough off the ball and on the ball," said Edwards.

The first goal was from a corner.

"I spoke to Horse about it but it was my man to be fair so I'll happily take the blame for that but Horse said he possibly could have come. It was a soft goal."

And the second just before half-time.

"The timing of that goal killed us massively. But it was poor defending, just a scramble and a bad time to conceed."

There were lots of changes to the squad.

"We knew that but with the squad we've got we thought we should have been able to deal with it but on the night it wasn't good enough."

Hereford didn't get going until the last ten minutes

"We said at half time to step it up, get at them but we were completely dead all over the pitch.

"If we had played our hearts fair enough but some of us I don't think even did that. Body language on the pitch wasn't good enough.

"Possibly a few tired legs from Saturday but it got changed around a bit a few of the lads haven't been playing.

"But we can't really have an excuse for it I don't think.

"We'll have to put it behind us, the league is still there for us, we've got to get our heads up. We've got a bit of a rest now."

As Alvechurch dropped points tonight Edwards admitted he was even more disappointed.

"I know it's a consolation but it was a chance for us to get points on the board which we didn't take."
