Tyler Weir Suspended By FA

Former Hereford United defender Tyler Weir has been suspended by the FA for six months part of which is suspended.

During Delroy Facey's trial last April (http://www.bullsnews.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/facey-found-guilty.html ) it was reported by the Lincolnshire Echo that Facey, another former Hereford United player, had been in touch with Weir.

'He also texted Worcester City FC player Tyler Weir to see if his team-mates would be interested in earning £2,000 in time for Christmas. Weir 'declined to take part in the plan'.

This from the FA and Worcester FC:

The FA has released the following statement concerning our player Tyler Weir which was embargoed until this afternoon:
"Three non-league footballers have been given suspensions from all football and football activity after they admitted breaching FA Rules.
Zephaniah Thomas, Tyler Weir and Scott Spencer were charged with failing to immediately report to The FA an approach by a third party related to seeking to influence the outcome or conduct of a match or competition. It is important to note that the three players were not involved in any attempt to fix matches and did not accept monies or gifts.
Weir, who admitted two breaches, has been immediately suspended for six months of which two months will be applied immediately with the balance being suspended until 1 July 2018.
Thomas, who admitted one breach, has been immediately suspended for four months of which six weeks will be applied immediately with the balance being suspended for two years. Spencer, who admitted one breach, has been immediately suspended for three months of which one month will be applied immediately with the balance being suspended until 1 October 2017."

Worcester City FC Statement:

Worcester City FC respect the FA Regulatory Commission's decision on 28 January 2016 and both the Player and the Club accept the punishment and will not be appealing.
Worcester City FC acted in a professional manner when immediately bringing this to the attention of the relevant football authorities and the Player and the Club fully assisted the FA with their subsequent investigation. We must however stress that the Club considers the Player has done very little wrong. The Club will therefore support the Player through his punishment and help him back into the squad at the end of his two month suspension period.
